The World-Renowned Bird Sanctuary
Kumana National Park (formerly Yala East) is famous for its 200-hectare natural mangrove swamp lake known as "Kumana Villu", where thousands of migratory birds nest between May and June.
Rare bird species such as the black-necked stork, Eurasian spoonbill, Great thick-knee, and yellow-footed green pigeon thrive here alongside leopards and wild elephants.
